1. How long have you been working at Laktopol?
Marcin Dębowski:
I began work here in 2007, which means that I have been an employee of Laktopol for 17 years. This is my first job and I smile at the thought of this number, because it seems like a lot, but in fact it is merely a moment. I do not know how and when this time passed so quickly.
2. What has been your career path at Laktopol?
Marcin Dębowski:
The first position I held was the operation of the evaporation and drying installation. After a year and a half, the commissioning of the new large CDI tower began. This was a very intense and simultaneously challenging time. From 2012, I took on the position of a foreman at the newly built powder plant. After two more years, I was promoted to shift manager. A completely different time, the acquired knowledge was supplemented by managing a large team of people and supervising the operating parameters of evaporators. From 2015, I was given the position of deputy production manager, at the same time serving as a shift supervisor. Later, this position was demarcated. In 2019, I was appointed as a production manager, and my deputy was Mariusz Suchos, who is currently performing my old duties as a production manager and is “educating” his worthy deputy.
And then came 2024, and since May this year I have been the director of the plant.
One of the most difficult decisions in my life, because production was always what interested me most. In spite of any fears, I decided to trust President Olgierd Meysztowicz and Olgierd Junior, with whom we had been cooperating in production for years, and our director Lech Antonowicz. I made the “manly” decision to face new challenges.
3. What do you like most about your job?
Marcin Dębowski:
Working at Laktopol at every organisational level requires speed of action and decision-making. The high level of adrenaline does not allow you to look at the time. This is certainly something I value in this job – there is no stagnation, there is constant brainstorming, something is constantly going on.
With 17 years of work in the production department behind me, I would never have suspected that the administrative department, let alone the “director’s” department, would be equally intense, time-consuming, and would require a higher level of “mental acrobatics”. Looking now from the other side, everything appears different.
Receiving guests gives me pleasure and satisfaction at the same time. Over these several years, we have hosted many different cultures and nationalities. This is an incredible experience. Not everyone knows how to approach customers from outside of Europe individually. Both language issues and requirements related to respecting the customs of a given nationality are crucial. Currently, the list of people, companies, and offices from all over the world has grown exponentially.
In addition to the above, of course and above all, the team of employees is important. There are truly great people with principles working here. Thanks to them, going to work is fun.
4. What do you like to do when you are not working?
Marcin Dębowski:
Is it even possible to not work when you’re in the dairy industry? A large part of my private life is occupied by business matters. However, in my free time, I enjoy cycling, meeting friends and family, or reaching for good history books. I am also a loyal fan of Formula 1.
5. How do you see Laktopol in 10 years?
Marcin Dębowski:
We have an endless appetite to develop our export capabilities. We constantly work to create new products, but we also care about maintaining the consistently high quality of our well-known existing brands. We have many plans for new investments. I am convinced that in 10 years we will be even more visible on the world map, because we are constantly expanding our scope of exports. As for me, I would like to be here, see and enjoy the expansion of our goods to other exotic corners of the world.
